Meet My Friend
When you were growing up, you probably never envisioned the path your life would take. Or, perhaps you did and although you made it, it isn’t the thrill you were looking for. There is still an emptiness inside that you can’t seem to fill.
Do any of these describe you?
~ Maybe you have had tons of money or never quite made it big. Either you have walked the straight and narrow path or tried drugs, alcohol, sex or whatever you could find that might make you happy. None of these things have made a difference in your life. There is still something missing.
~ You tried church once or twice. Maybe you were even heavily involved. But those church people let you down. They didn’t live up to your expectations. It could be they tried to make God all about rules and regulations. They didn’t show you love…just judgment.
~ Perhaps have never even been inside a church. No one has ever invited you. Or the ones who did thought you needed to clean up first. Either way, you felt condemned before you took that step and it was just easier not to go. Church just isn’t your thing.
~ You have met a few of those “Christian” people. They were rude to you, impatient and definitely not the type of person you want to hang around. You especially don’t want what they have if it means acting the way they acted.
~ Maybe you are mad at God. He let you down at the point you felt you needed Him most. A situation in your life didn’t happen the way you wanted it to and it still hurts. God could have intervened…but didn’t.
~ Possibly, you have been curious about this “Jesus thing” but never really knew the right questions to ask or who to talk to. You know something is missing. You want the emptiness filled. You just need answers.
I have GREAT news for you!
- God is CRAZY about you! He loves you just the way you are! Nothing you have ever done has made Him love you less.
- You were not a mistake. Before you were in your mother’s womb, God knew you! He planned you!
- You are so amazing…so loved…so special to God that He sent his son, Jesus, to die for you!
- Jesus isn’t all about rules and regulations. His main goal isn’t to try to fix you.
- Jesus wants a relationship with you. He wants to talk with you and be a part of every aspect of your life.
- Jesus wants to bring you and your life to a place that is filled with Hope, Joy and Peace.
You are human. You haven’t lived a perfect life because it is an impossibility (which is why churches aren’t perfect either!). The Bible says we have ALL sinned and fall short of the best God has for us (Romans 3:23). That is why God sent his son, Jesus. Maybe you have seen the sign at a football game…John 3:16. God sent His son so that you would not perish but have eternal life. Another great verse is John 6:40 where Jesus says “For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life…”
What exactly IS Eternal Life anyway?
Some believe that it is going to heaven after you die. But, there is so much more! Eternal life includes the life you live here on this earth. No one wants a life that is unfulfilling and miserable. Here are some of the benefits of having a relationship with God:
- God sent his son so you could have freedom from the guilt and shame through the forgiveness of your sins (Romans 8). He paid the price of your sins…and mine…when He died on the cross so the cost to you is NOTHING!
- You become an heir to the kingdom of God (Galations 4:7).
- Christ came so that you can have an ABUNDANT life (John 10:10).
- God has a purpose for your life (Psalm 138:8). He will reveal that to you (Psalm 16:11).
- He will give you Joy, Peace and Hope (Romans 15:13).
- You become a friend of Jesus (John 14:14). Friends talk. They share in both pain and joy. They do life together.
- And one more thing. That place called heaven? You get to go there too! : )
Want to know how you can know Jesus?
You may have heard it called becoming a Christian or being saved. Here is a prayer you can pray…
God,
I admit it. Life to this point hasn’t gone quite the way I would like. I haven’t done my best. I believe that Jesus is your Son and He died on the cross to pay the price for my sins. I have sinned and would like to ask for forgiveness of my sins and make changes not to repeat them. Show me how to do that. Teach me what you want me to learn. Show me how to do this life better and give me the joy, peace and hope the Bible says I can have. Come into my life and fill the void I have had. Thank you for your gift, God.
In Jesus Name. Amen
Congratulations!!! You have just made a decision that will impact the rest of your life!
Does that mean God is going to wave a magic wand and life will be butterflies and roses from this point on? Uh….no! But, having a friend to turn to in those times of frustration and pain will make going through them a little easier and perhaps even give the trials purpose.
We would love to know if you made this decision and prayed that prayer. We will mail you a free gift and some additional information on the next steps to take in your relationship with Jesus. We can even help find you a church if you don’t know where to go. Just let us know!
