I have to admit it. Curiosity got the best of me. Facebook posts were flying faster than I could keep up about your performance at the VMA awards. I searched every 15 minutes until the video finally surfaced on the net. At first, I was puzzled but slowly, my bewilderment turned to shock. That was, of course, your desired result and as you are aware, it had the intended effect on the world. Everyone is talking about it.
As I continued to watch, I grew more and more sad. The Miley Cyrus I saw on that video is not the woman I believe that you are capable of being. You are beautiful. You are talented. You have been gifted by God to do great things. As Hannah Montana, little girls everywhere looked up to you to provide assurance that everything was going to be okay. They dressed like you. The wanted to be like you. They adored you. The best part was that during most of that time, you really did provide a great model for our girls. You made it okay to have good family relationships. You showed what friendship was about. You made life about having fun in wholesome ways. You may have gotten into some trouble on that show, but you eventually owned up to your behavior, took counsel from the adults and showed kids how to make better decisions.
Miley, if we could sit down today and have a tall, cold smoothie (yeah…it is hot in the south!), there are a few things I would say to you:
~ You are unique. There is no one that has your captivating smile, your exquisite eyes or your beautiful voice. You don’t need to try to be anyone else or “one-up” others who have come before you. Your talent is what catipulted you to stardom in the first place. Being the Miley Cyrus God created you to be will give you more satisfaction than being anyone else ever could.
~ You are a Gift with Value and Worth. You have parents who love you. You have family who loves you. You have fans who love you. Perhaps there are people in your life haven’t appreciated the gift. You can give someone a new Mercedes that they don’t appreciate because they don’t understand the value. However, their misunderstanding doesn’t make the car any less valuable. You are a precious Gift!
~ You were put on this earth to shine! You have a voice that others listen to. Use it for good and teach others how to achieve their dreams, reach their potential, and to become greater than they ever thought possible.
~ God is Super-Crazy about you! He loves you! He adores you! There is nothing you have done in the past or can do in the future that will make Him stop loving you. You are His child and since He is a King, that makes you a princess just by virtue of being you! You don’t have to do anything to earn His love. Instead, you can just rest in it. God wants to listen to everything you have to say. He wants to be involved in every part of your life…the good AND the bad! He isn’t condemning you for any decisions you have made but instead, wants to show you grace and empower you make different decisions for the future. God wants to be your friend just because He loves you and not for anything you can do for Him.
~ There is a Peace, Joy and Happiness that only God can give you. It isn’t something that can be bought or acquired apart from a relationship with Him. He desperately wants to fill you with His Joy.
Don’t sell yourself short, Miley. Don’t wake up 20 years from now with regrets. Be able to hold your head high as you show your children your videos and scenes from your life. Be proud of the God given talents and abilities you have! Continue your climb with dignity and style.
You ARE beautiful and strong!
I am praying for you!
“And I hope you find it,
What you’re looking for
And I hope it’s everything you dreamed your life could be
And so much more
And I hope you’re happy, wherever you are.”
Hugs!
